Skylands Saga 2: The Deadlands

Ilmasaarten seikkailut 2. Kuollut maa

The second part in the breathtakingly exciting Skylands Saga, in which Misa and Davi journey beyond the familiar skies.

Davi feels desperate on the bleak frozen planet without his twin sister Misa. She is racing through space alone, and far beyond Davi’s, or anyone’s, reach. At least Davi has company at this icy place; the crew of the airship The Whirling Raven who shipwrecked at The Deadlands decades earlier.

All seems lost, until one day Davi conjures a wall out of thin air, signaling the growth of his starborn powers. When he comes to hear Misa’s cry for help in the expanse of his own mind, Davi knows instantly that there is no time to waste. He must master his new powers fast in order to save Misa, before she drifts too far to be reached.

The Skylands Saga’s nuanced covers and expressive character illustrations are the work of the talented illustrator Eeva Nikunen.

Reviews of Book 1

“Immonen’s book is traditional adventure at its best, entwined in fantasy and the unknown world. The story is full of peculiar creatures, animals, and people and the story takes the reader far into unknown lands. Definitely interesting reading [—].” —Lukutoukan luetut sivut blog

“The glowing cover of THE STARBORN perfectly captures the atmosphere of the book, as well as the distinctive yet vividly exuberant world that Immonen depicts so intriguingly…” —Siniset Helmet Literary Review

“Once again, guaranteed quality from Helena Immonen — polished and captivating. The characters grab you by the hand and pull you straight into the adventure, and what an adventure it is! In this story, orphaned twins hop aboard an airship to go on an expedition. But very soon it becomes clear that nothing is quite as it seems, and the twins aren’t exactly ordinary street children. I especially loved the fantasy world floating in the sky. …Eeva Nikunen’s cover art deserves special praise — it fits the spirit of the book so perfectly!” —Lastenkirjat.net (Children’s Books) Literary Review

“…The Skylands Saga series gets off to a strong start… the highly intriguing setting, and the smoothly progressing story draws you in right from the very first chapter. … The sequel in The Skylands Saga series is without a doubt on my reading list.” —Kirjavinkit (Booktips) Literary Review
