Leena Paasio began her writing career with the novel Almost a Mother (Melkein äiti, 2015).
Her YA novel Bengtskär East Eight (Bengtskär itä kahdeksan, 2023) won the ‘Blogistanian Kuopus’ and ‘Nuori Aleksis’ literary awards.
Sea Between Us (Meren koskettamat, 2024) also won the’ Blogistanian Kuopus’ award and was nominated for the ‘Topelius’ and ‘Children’s and YA Finlandia’ Prizes. The readers chose it as their favorite!
The Wind Turns South /Tuuli kääntyy etelään, WSOY 2025) is the first book in her evocative and maritime Home Harbour series.
Paasio works as a Finnish teacher and enjoys sailing.
