Matti Laine

Matti Laine is a master storyteller, celebrated for his cinematic and action-packed narratives. His work combines a strong societal perspective with timeliness, emphasizing family dynamics and relatable characters.

Laine is the author of the six-part Elias Vitikka crime novel series, which follows a former hockey player who rises to prominence in Helsinki’s underworld.

He also served as the head writer for the prize-winning television series The Paradise and was one of the original scriptwriters for Bordertown (Netflix) and is the head screenwriter for the Hildur TV-series.

Her Father’s Daughter (Bazar, February 2025) launched Laine’s new Armadillo crime series, introducing an international father-daughter duo as they take on a mysterious arms dealer known as Kodiac.
The series has already sold over 34,000 copies in Finland, been optioned by Yellow Film & TV, and has translation rights for books 1–3 sold to Estonia.
