In the archipelago, life’s currents bring unexpected turns.
Heikki’s life has been upended by a divorce and a new career: he now works as a skipper on the archipelago’s ferry and divides his time between Turku and the island of Utö. In the city, he spends time with his son Jasper; on Utö, he cares for his ailing mother together with his sister Henna.
Henna’s friend, journalist Ella Dahlberg, sees her round-the-world sailing trip come to an abrupt end when she runs aground off Utö. Suddenly, her life takes a new turn: Ella becomes a guide and harbor master on Isokari. When the local waterbus driver injures his leg, Ella desperately turns to Heikki for help. During long, busy summer days, Heikki and Ella grow close—but both of their situations are far from simple.
