If you manage to escape from a serial killer into the arms of a handsome hacker next door, common sense tells you life ought to be on the right track.

But Alex, a ‘body jumper’, gets a feeling in her new body that nothing is the way she wants it to be. Her spirit is under threat, and each step towards an identity of her own seems to be leading her further away, like in a nightmare. No one seems to want to adopt the technology marketed by the company she inherited: it would represent a step away from fossil fuels. Evil lurks close by, threatening everything Alex holds dear. Does she have any choice but to leave it all behind?
