First three titles of the award-winning Hildur series will soon be published in the United States, the series will now be out in 29 territories.
Bonnier Rights Finland is thrilled to announce the sale of Finnish-Icelandic bestselling author Satu Rämö’s Hildur series translation rights to Union Square & Co in the United States, marking a landmark moment in what has already been one of the most extraordinary success stories in contemporary Nordic crime fiction. Union Square & Co. is a New York City-based imprint of Hachette Book Group, they collaborate with bestselling, award-winning, and debut authors and creatives to publish at the highest quality across categories.
This exciting new deal adds the US to a growing list of 29 territories worldwide where Rämö’s work has captivated readers, with her total worldwide sales now exceeding 1.5 million copies.
The Hildur series — a groundbreaking work of Nordic blue crime fiction set in the remote Westfjords of Iceland — has struck a deep chord with audiences across the globe, and now American readers will finally get to experience the magic for themselves.

Since her crime fiction debut in 2022, Satu Rämö has become one of Finland’s most successful literary exports considering the number of rights sold, presence in international bestseller lists and awards.

The series has been adapted for the stage at both Helsinki and Turku City Theatre, and the Finnish-Icelandic TV adaptation — produced by Take Two Studios and Sagafilm, with global distribution by Cinefix Rights — has already launched to audiences in Iceland and Finland.
The Hildur series follows Hildur Rúnarsdóttir, a police detective navigating missing persons cases in the stark, breathtaking landscapes of Iceland’s Westfjords.
The Guardian has praised Rämö as a writer who “caused a publishing sensation across Europe,” while other critics have called the series “a masterpiece in the crime fiction genre”.
