The fourth thrilling instalment in the Animagi of the Mist series leads our four friends to Valentia – in search of Tommo’s father. In a city where animagi are hunted, who can they trust?
After hearing a rumour that Tommo’s father might be alive in Valentia, Tommo, Hedda, Aasa and Jarek set sail to the land of the Vano. But Valentia is no safe haven: animagi are outlawed, and the four friends must keep their true nature hidden.
The long sea voyage gives them time to plan their next move, and things seem to fall into place when Hedda manages to get them all hired by the royal court. Yet beneath the palace’s gilded surface lurk dangerous secrets, and soon Tommo and his friends find themselves facing the greatest test of their lives.

“The series’ fantastic tale of shape-shifting children, a mysterious mist, acceptance, friendship and courage set in the tribal lands of the Animagi makes it perfect for any middle-grade book lover, who adores an exciting, fast-paced, and fantasy-filled story. We’re delighted and looking forward to publishing the books in Denmark.” –Julie Pedersen, Editor, Bogoo, Denmark
“The author’s interest in security policy is powerfully present in this work as well; it feels almost like a reflection of today’s global political climate, where one must weigh to the very end who is a trustworthy ally and who will defend us. This metaphorical reality—told in a way that is gentle enough for a child yet thrilling—is the book’s greatest appeal. In other words, the reason why it’s so hard to put down.
The language is clear, straightforward, and richly descriptive. Even though the story moves in a supernatural world, the portrayal of human emotions brings variety and a sense of realism to the work.” –Janica Pörhönen, Maaseudun tulevaisuus newspaper
